You are cordially invited to attend Diane’s House Ministries 1st Annual Open House Fund Raiser Benefit. I am writing to you specifically because you are among those friends who know how important Diane’s House is to homeless women here in the District of Columbia. The 2007 census on homelessness conducted by the Homeless Services Planning & Coordinating Committee of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) show that 11,762 persons are reported homeless. 5,757 of that population are reported to be in the District of Columbia. The report also states over 2200 of that number is women. Therefore, it is imperative that we continue every effort to create, provide and implement services that reflect a safe, clean and healthy environment which will promote a successful reintegration inclusive of affordable permanent housing. This year’s annual campaign has a specific challenge in providing heat for our clients this upcoming heating season. With the increase of fuel prices, heating oil specifically, Diane’s House average cost to heat the house that provide shelter for up to 8 women at a time, was approximately budgeted at $500.00 per delivery with approximately 6 deliveries (957 gallons) from April 07 through March 08. Hence it is our desire to raise money for our oil utility fund. Our goal is $3,500.00 with this event. Here is where Diane’s House needs your assistance.
